Stability and Space for Demanding Missions: ALUCAT® in Security and Defence Operations

Authorities, rescue services, and security and defence organizations need boats that remain stable even in sudden situations, transport both personnel and equipment safely, offer excellent fuel efficiency, and withstand decades of demanding use. These are the core principles around which every ALUCAT® catamaran is designed.

Stability Is Not a Comfort Feature, It Is a Safety Requirement

A traditional V-hull can heel significantly during sudden turns, whereas every ALUCAT® catamaran hull is designed to remain stable even in sharp manoeuvres, enabling safe operation when rapid response is required. Stability also improves safety when loading equipment, moving around on board, or carrying out work tasks, as the vessel remains steady during loading operations. A Flat Deck Enables Versatile Cargo and Personnel Transport

The flat deck of ALUCAT® catamarans makes transporting personnel and cargo easy and efficient. The deck can be equipped with a variety of mounting solutions and additional storage options to maximize safety and cargo capacity. Our barrier-free bow ramp is specifically designed for safe and rapid loading of equipment and supplies. On our largest models, the deck can accommodate machinery such as ATVs, compact excavators, or even a delivery van. Payload capacity varies by model, but for example, the W18 featured below offers a carrying capacity of approximately 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs).

Introducing the W18 CAB6 for the Finnish Border Guard

One example of a vessel delivered for the defence and security sector is the W18 CAB6 catamaran supplied to the Finnish Border Guard. This vessel serves as an excellent example of how a boat can be designed and equipped to meet the demanding requirements of defence and security operations.

The vessel was specifically configured with a strong focus on logistics, making it well suited for both cargo and personnel transport. It is equipped with twin Mercury 150 hp outboard engines, providing the speed and power required for demanding conditions and heavy payloads. Crew comfort is enhanced by cabin heating, roof hatches, and adjustable ventilation. For navigation, the cabin is fitted with advanced chart and radar systems, a thermal camera, and other marine electronics that support safe and efficient operations. A winch system has been installed at the bow to simplify and speed up equipment handling. Additional storage solutions have been integrated both on deck and inside the cabin to accommodate safety gear and operational equipment.

The vessel designed for the Finnish Border Guard is an excellent example of how every ALUCAT® is tailored to the specific requirements of each customer.
