Engines

ALUCAT® boats are available with a wide range of engine solutions from various manufacturers. Boats can be delivered with single or twin outboard engines, hybrid configurations, or inboard engines.

You can choose the engines for your boat yourself, or alternatively our design department can recommend the most suitable solution for the intended use. The most commonly used outboard engine brands in our catamarans are Suzuki, Mercury and Yamaha. Installation of diesel outboard engines is also possible. Suzuki, Mercury ja Yamaha. Myös diesel‑ulkoperämoottorien asentaminen on mahdollista.

Engine power is always defined according to the boat’s size, intended use and load. Reference vessels and CFD analyses are used to support the design process, ensuring a solution that is both high‑performing and fuel‑efficient.

Engine power and steering solutions

The choice of engines depends on the size of the boat: larger catamaran models require more powerful engines, often twin installations, while a single engine is usually sufficient for smaller boats, although twin engines are also possible.

Boats equipped with engines of 150 hp or more can be fitted with joystick steering (depending on the engine brand). As standard, we use SeaStar steering systems, most commonly hydraulic steering with a tie‑bar kit in twin‑engine configurations.

Inboard engines

In addition to outboard engines, our catamarans can also be equipped with inboard engines. If desired, a step can be integrated above the inboard engine, making access to the boat easier also from the stern.

The most common inboard engine brands are Volvo and Yanmar. Inboard engines are recommended to be equipped with joystick steering to achieve optimal handling and operating comfort.

Hybrid option

Hybrid configurations can also be implemented for our boats. For example, the W16 model has been equipped with a solution featuring two diesel engines and one electric motor.

A hybrid solution can reduce fuel consumption without compromising the boat’s performance or operational characteristics. Hybrid configurations are always designed on a case‑by‑case basis according to the intended use.

Every ALUCAT® boat is designed as a complete entity, where the engine solution also supports the boat’s actual operational purpose. A well‑selected engine setup enhances performance, efficiency and onboard comfort well into the future.
