Everything at ALUCAT begins with good design. One of the greatest strengths of ALUCAT® boats is our in-house design department located at our factory in Ylöjärvi. We design every boat from start to finish ourselves, enabling truly customer-specific solutions.
Each of our boats is carefully tailored to the customer's operational needs, work tasks, and operating environment. Whether the vessel is intended for rescue operations, transportation, or other professional use, our goal is always to design a boat that serves its users as effectively as possible for years to come.
Designing the Boat Together with the Customer
Often, our customers already have a clear vision of the boat they want. In other cases, the starting point is simply an operational need, based on which our design team develops and delivers the best possible solution.
The design process begins with a discussion about the customer's needs. Based on this, we can prepare preliminary sketches and concept drawings without any purchase commitment. This allows the customer to gain a realistic understanding of the boat’s size, layout, equipment options, and pricing at an early stage. The boat drawings can always be modified if the customer wishes to make changes or add new requirements.
Our experienced designers can also recommend improvements and alternative solutions when needed. In many cases, even small modifications can significantly enhance the boat’s safety, usability, and ease of maintenance.
What Does Boat Design Involve?
Boat design involves much more than creating layout drawings. Behind every project, numerous technical calculations and analyses are carried out to ensure the vessel’s safety, performance, and reliability.
The design process may include, for example:
- Weight calculations and load assessments
- Hydrostatic calculations to evaluate how the boat behaves in the water
- Stability assessments to ensure the boat operates safely under different loading conditions and weather environments

- Preparation of technical drawings and production documentation

What Types of Boats Can We Design?
ALUCAT® designs and manufactures aluminum catamaran boats. We typically design vessels ranging from approximately 5 to 15 meters in length for a wide variety of applications. The solution can be a planing hull or a displacement hull, an open workboat or a cabin-equipped vessel. Because all design work is carried out at our own factory, we have considerably greater freedom to customize structures, layouts, and equipment than is possible with mass-produced boats.
If an idea is technically feasible and safe to implement, we will do our best to find the right solution for it.
