ALUCAT® Story

BEGINNING OF THE CATAMARAN BOAT
The design of the ALUCAT® catamaran boats began in 2003 in Pieksämäki, Eastern Finland. The project team included racing boaters and top boating experts from various professional user groups. The goal of the project was to create a completely new next generation catamaran hull multipurpose boat for professional use.

The project team decided to use a well-known and well-deserved catamaran structure used in racing boating. The future boat had to meet the most demanding requirements of professional users in varying conditions and purposes of use. The first prototypes were made of plywood and it took several years to test the different design alternates until the right structural solutions were found.

In 2009, Alucat Ltd was founded around this new kind of boat innovation. The company’s mission was to provide safer, more economical and versatile boating for a variety of purposes of use with the state-of-the-art solutions.

THE FIRST MODEL
The company’s first boat model was the ALUCAT® W600 aluminum catamaran-hull boat, which was primarily marketed for the government purposes. The specialty of these boats was the opening bow ramp in addition to the catamaran structure of the boat. The first public appearance of the new boat model took place at the Dubai Authorities Fair.

Launching a new catamaran-style boat on the traditional V-boat market was challenging and sales could not be expanded as desired. However, the new aluminum ALUCAT® catamaran boat attracted a lot of interest from abroad.

In 2011, the boat production of Alucat Ltd was transferred to Ylihärmä, where serial production of ALUCAT® W600 catamaran boats began. A few boats were sold for professional and official use domestically, although larger orders from overseas would have been in sight.

TO YLÖJÄRVI
In 2013, Alucat Ltd production was transferred to Ylöjärvi by the family company Suomen Säiliönpääty Ltd. There was already been an own project launched to design a new small catamaran boat for recretional use.

After the business sale, this boat got the type name ALUCAT® W460 (later ALUCAT® W8). These boats have been manufactured and delivered to satisfied customers domestically and abroad since 2015. In addition, they have been sold especially for fishing guide companies, authorities, and for use of physically challenged people.

BREAKTHROUGH
Indeed, the ALUCAT® W8 catamaran boat was selected as one of the world’s best fishing boat at the global Best of Boats Competition in 2017 in Berlin, Germany.

ALUCAT® catamaran boats have been successfully developed for demanding professional use the last five years as a part of the business of Suomen Säiliönpääty Ltd. For that reason, authorities and professional users are the strategic focus area of the new Alucat Catamarans Ltd, separated in 2019. Recreational boaters have also an access to this professional quality without sacrificing the safety.

THE STRONG PRODUCT COLLECTION
At the moment, the ALUCAT® catamaran boat product colletion includes four different boat models. Dozens of alternative models are available of the ALUCAT® W8, W10, W14 and W25, for a variety of purposes of use. The type designation number indicates the number of square meters of flat and unobstructed deck space, which is much more significant than the length of the boat in professional use.

The manufacture of ALUCAT® catamaran boats is located in Ylöjärvi near Tampere City, in a new production facility which is begun to use in December 2019. The new facility will enable the launch of large-series production due to strong demand and sales growth.
